Let me take you to a place where the clear teal water is sprinkled with glitter, and tiny colorful boats sit in a row. Where white box houses are covered in purple flowers, and are stacked on top of each other on the lush green rocky hills. Connecting the two is beautiful black sand. Let me take you to the Amalfi coast…
Friday
If ever there was a place to build a mansion in a cave with a yacht and helicopter out front, it would be the island of Capri. This is where we spent our Friday. We took a ferry here from Sorrento and then took a boat tour all around the island. We got to see caves, and float into Grottos with gorgeous green/emerald/teal water. Unfortunately we did not get to see the blue grotto because the tides were too high, but at least I could say I was close! All the grottos we got to see were amazing! In Capri we hiked to the highest point we could, then took a chairlift even higher to the top of the island. Looking over the whole island and the never ending ocean was unreal; the kind of picture only worth keeping in your head. At night we had a delicious dinner and went dancing.
Saturday
Saturday was amazing! We relaxed on the black sand beaches of Positano for some time and then we got on a boat to experience some amazing activates; cliff jumping and cave swimming. Cliff diving is so thrilling every time! The cliffs weren’t that high, 10-15 ft, so it was super enjoyable! Then we got to swim into a cave where the water was a beautiful turquoise and the tunnel was fairly long. There were small holes above our head where light shined through and we had to climb up through some rocks to get out. I must say swimming all the way back out to the boat with huge waves I wore myself out and momentarily wondered if I would ever make it. But I did and now I am reflecting on what an awesome experience that was!
Our hostel in Sorrento was absolutely amazing. I have had such good luck with hostels. At night we went up to the rooftop bar and had fun drinks. As I was looking over the city under the glow of the pink sunset, and watching the fireworks and lanterns being sent off into the sky, I was again reminded how magical life can be, and how neat it is that I will always hold these memories.
Sunday
We went to Pompeii, it was eerie walking through the streets of this old town. It was weird to see the bodies who's lives were ended instantly. The town was much larger than I thought and had a lot more than I thought it would. It had fast food like places, a theatre, and a brothel. I don't know just very interesting. I don't want to talk about it too much because I am going back later. This time I did not get the tour so I do not know as much as I would like, I just wandered the streets and tried to feel what life would of been like, and what it must of felt like to have your entire town wiped out.
I wish I could take you here for real. I wish I could describe how good the water felt, or how breathtaking the views were, or the happiness I felt, but there is no way. It’s weird that I can never describe to anyone exactly what I experience abroad, maybe I should get better at telling stories, or maybe I should let these experiences shine through me and tell the world of my experiences as a reflection of all the beautiful things I have seen…
Love, Care
